3 things to know before buying a home in The Dominion, according to locals
1. You’ll need HOA approval to make changes
Major exterior property changes must be approved by the HOA. The Dominion Home Owners’ Association consists of six committees that oversee things like community finances, landscape matters, and security. Committees meet monthly and encourage residents to get involved. Monthly HOA fees cover all common expenses, including security, insurance, and social events.
2. It’s not as diverse as other nearby neighborhoods
The Dominion lacks the diversity of race and culture that some other San Antonio neighborhoods offer. Minorities represent less than one-quarter of residents. By comparison, the Hispanic population in all of San Antonio represents more than half of all city residents.
3. The Country Club is the heart of the community
The Dominion Country Club boasts a 54,000-square-foot clubhouse, a restaurant, tennis courts, a pool, and, of course, the pristine golf course designed by PGA professional Bill Johnston. The Country Club hosts private events, sports camps, and fitness classes throughout the year. Most amenities require a membership.
The top 4 things to do in The Dominion
1. Enjoy a round of golf with stunning views
According to The Dominion Club golf course website, the course was designed to be “an improvement on nature itself.” And with 60 sand traps and 25 acres of man-made lakes, it’s safe to say the course lives up to that vision.
2. Join the Supper Club
The Dominion Supper Club was created more than 20 years ago and is still going strong. Members meet on the first Thursday of every month for dinner at various residents’ homes. Participants often host “theme nights” or bring in outside entertainment for their guests.
3. Dine at some of San Antonio’s favorite spots
There are plenty of delicious places to check out in The Dominion. The Grill at Leon Springs is located just outside of The Dominion. The creative bar menu, signature martinis, and selection of local brews make this a favorite spot among the locals. Other mainstays include La Fogata and La Gloria, which now have locations close to The Dominion.
4. Brave the coasters at Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Fiesta Texas is just minutes from The Dominion. The park has rides, attractions, shopping, dining, and entertainment for visitors of all ages. Fright Fest is one of Six Flags’ premier events offering spooky, family-friendly attractions to make you scream.
