Meet the leadership team

Eric Wu
CEO / Co Founder

Eric’s life-obsession is to make moving simple. Prior to founding Opendoor, Eric was the founder and CEO of Movity.com, a geo-data analytics company acquired by Trulia.com in 2011. At Trulia, Eric led location, social, and consumer product development. He also co-founded RentAdvisor.com, which was later acquired by Apartment List, and runs a real estate fund that has invested in over 100 multi-family units.

Julie Todaro
President of Homes and Services

Julie joins us after having consulted a number of high-growth companies, including Airbnb, Coupang and others. She also spent more than 13 years at Amazon, where she held leadership positions within finance and retail, as well as running Amazon Canada, North American books and consumer electronics. She possesses deep experience building operational excellence at fast-growing organizations.

Tom Willerer
Chief Product Officer

Tom was most recently a Partner at Venrock, investing in early stage startups for the firm’s consumer-facing product portfolio. Prior to Venrock, he was Chief Product Officer at Coursera, where he helped to scale the company from $1 million to $100 million in revenue. He also led product teams at Netflix, where he helped to expand the company’s subscribership from 8 million U.S.-only users to over 40 million globally. Tom is a seasoned leader who brings deep product experience to Opendoor.

Carrie Wheeler

Carrie previously served on Opendoor’s board. Prior to Opendoor, she was with TPG Global, a leading global private investment firm, for more than two decades, where she was a partner and led TPG’s investments in the consumer and retail sectors. She has been on the boards of numerous companies, including leading brands such as Neiman Marcus and Petco Animal Supplies, and currently sits on the boards of Dollar Tree and APi Group. As an experienced investor and board member, Carrie brings a wealth of experience across different industries, finance and operations to the company.

Sheila Tran
Head of Communications

Sheila was most recently Yahoo’s head of global communications. She was responsible for driving Yahoo’s worldwide communications activities, including media relations, financial, crisis, internal communications, B2B and consumer public relations. Prior to Yahoo, she was head of communications at Polyvore (acquired by Yahoo). She has also held communications and marketing roles at Symantec, AOL, Access Communications and Cisco Systems.

Erica Galos Alioto
Head of people

Prior to Opendoor, Erica spent eleven years at Yelp, where she helped grow the company from a team of 13 in 2006 to over 5500. Throughout her tenure, she led the sales team of over 2200 team members and at various points led sales training and recruiting. From 2013 to 2017, she served as the Chairperson of the Board for the Yelp Foundation where she focused on bringing community involvement into the markets where Yelp operated. Prior to Yelp, she spent over 4 years as a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins.

Ian Wong
CTO / Co Founder

Ian is a co-founder and leads Opendoor’s team of engineers and data scientists in modernizing the real-estate industry. Previously, he built machine learning applications at Square and Prismatic. He earned degrees in Electrical Engineering and Statistics from Stanford University.
